Lucia Leuci (Bisceglie, 1977) is a visual artist who lives and works in Milan.
Leuci's research encompasses drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation. The artist explores metropolitan trends, themes of contemporary "Creole" identity, and the aesthetics of everyday life. Her projects thus take the form of a radical and poetic exploration of contemporary forms of living and appearance, but always through a situated, never distanced or privileged, perspective on society. Her works are the result of direct, experiential, and sometimes biographical engagement. From this perspective, the artist activates a nonlinear form of understanding, made up of fragments and new symbols, capable of restoring the structures of vulnerability that mark the present, especially in the lives of young people and the less protected. In her works, Leuci implicitly reflects on inequalities and class-related hierarchies. This isn't a direct, journalistic denunciation, but rather an affective and emotional reinterpretation of the aesthetics of marginalization and a space for sensitivity and empathy expressed in a process of poetic resignification.
Through a sculptural practice that over the years has distinguished itself for its variety of materials and techniques, the artist chooses to manipulate or recombine elements of this globalized, ready-to-wear world, limiting her selection to what statistically predominates: mass-produced objects, leftovers, synthetic materials, derivative design, and kitsch. This doesn't prevent her from combining non-synthetic materials (such as real hair) with others crafted with artisanal skill (hand-sewn, one-of-a-kind doll dresses). His art thus proposes an original, bizarre, and disturbing partition of reality. Leuci intercepts fragments of experience, affections, marginal social or cultural conditions, which are rendered in new forms—sometimes disturbing, other times tenderly infantile—capable of generating various short circuits, between intimacy and the collective, between beauty and squalor, between power and precariousness.

In 2026 Leuci will participate in the 61st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, having been invited by Chiara Camoni to present one of her works in the Italian Pavilion, "Con te con tutto," curated by Cecilia Canziani. Like Camoni, Leuci's research seems to engage in a passionate effort to hold "everything" together: past and present; the distant and the near; a unity (real or imagined) and its disintegration; the attractive and the monstrous; the masculine and the feminine.
