Greta Ferretti (1996, Rome) is a painter based in Venice, Italy.
Ferretti’s works on canvas and paper recount curious stories, paradoxical or absurd facts, all experienced by the protagonists in an apparently unaware form, immersed in a surreal and Kafka-like atmosphere. In her paintings the human subjects seem to search for a possible relationship with the context and with the animate and inanimate objects which surround them.
Evidently aware of the power of silence, in her work on paper or canvas, Greta Ferretti expresses a strong narrative tension and an intense psychoanalytical load.
The sense of suspension is reinforced by a careful composition, by a dry and restrained style dominated by liquid and evanescent colours (often made with the use of watercolors or ink).
Greta Ferretti (1996, Rome) is a painter based in Venice, Italy.
In 2022, she graduated in Paintings and Visual Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. Same year she received the third prize award in the 104ma Collettiva Giovani Artisti, Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, Venice.
The artistic research that characterizes her paintings is linked to a narrative fabric that draws on a personal catalog of circumstances, real and imaginary places, people and destinies. Elements, apparently lacking any specific relationship, are gathered together: via a sort of chromatic prism the scattered sense of a dreamlike, sometimes enigmatic, tale appears. Illuminated by an intimate beauty that cannot be concealed by any deformity, figures -introspective and pathetic - are bonded together by the complex forces that shape them and by the tension required to break free. Things and animals participate: their clarity gives rise to hybrid forms which explore the infinite possibilities of transformation in experience and memory.
Her works were exhibited at Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, Venezia (2022); Vulcano Agency, Venezia Mestre (2022); D302, Venezia (2021); Museo Civico Giovanni Fattori, Livorno (2021); RAVE East Village Artist Residency, Manzano (UD); Vulcano Agency, Venezia Mestre (2021).
